Good Shepherd Lake House of Prayer is a contemplative retreat center situated on a serene hill overlooking Lake Victoria in Mwanza, Tanzania. Established as a mission of the Archdiocese of Mwanza in collaboration with Maryknoll Missioners, our center offers a sacred space for individuals seeking spiritual growth and renewal.

Our mission is to provide a 'desert' environment—a place free from the disturbances and noises of everyday life—where guests can rest physically, mentally, and spiritually in the presence of God.

Mission: To provide a 'desert atmosphere'—a place free of distractions and noise—to enable guests to detach from the regular 'noise' of everyday life and rest in the Lord, body, mind, and spirit.

🛏️ Accommodations & Rates

  • Full Board (Individual Directed Retreat): 60,000 TZS per night

  • Day Retreat (Morning to Evening with Lunch and Rest Accommodations): 10,000 TZS

  • Overnight Accommodations:

    • Six single accommodations

    • Seven double accommodations

  • Maximum Group Capacity for Overnight Accommodations: 20 guests. Group rates are available upon request.


📍 Location

We are situated on a hill overlooking Lake Victoria in the Kabuhoro-Ibanda section of the Kirumba District, opposite Kirumba Secondary School.

🕰️ Prayer Schedule

  • Silent Prayer/Meditation: Mondays-Fridays @ 6:30 am

  • Morning Mass: 6:45 am

  • Adoration, Psalms, Scripture Reading, and Meditation: As arranged

Participation in prayers is optional, and retreatants of diverse faith backgrounds are welcome. Services are conducted in Swahili.
